The Road Map

Chapter Six

The Road Map

“Keeping your body healthy is an expression of gratitude to the whole cosmos – the trees, the clouds, every thing”

~ Thich Nhat Hana

Think of this chapter as GPS for how to effectively and efficiently cruise through life on the highway to heath.  Thre is a for in the road, the choice is your; take the healthy route.

If you’re serous about cruising down the highway to health, go out and buy a journal, or make your own out of plain paper or a notebook.  Whatever yu do, just start making lists and journaling.  Here’s a fact about dieters:  studies show that dieters who keep a daily journal of all the food they eat are twice as successful at eating right as those who don’t Two times as successful!  That’s huge.  200%!  This doesn’t have to relate to just people who want to lose weight, we are all dieters in that we all have to eat every day.  A diet simply refers to an eating plan. So whether your goal is weight loss or weight gain, or to be healthier and make better choices, journaling will help you on your path.  All you have to do is write down everything you eat to have double the outcome.  Terrific!

THE POSITIVE APPROACH

A good way to set out on the highway to health is to focus on what’s going well with your body and health.  Don’t focus on what’s going wrong.  Whatever we focus on is what we attract.  So, if we focus on the negative, that’s the thing that will continue.  Focus on the positive!

If you know what’s going well and focus on doing the right thing, you can improve on that and keep it up.  Soon you’ll be making all the healthy choices (well, maybe not all, none of us are perfect and there sure are a lot of choices out there).

Start with a list of your current behaviors and move on from there to keep making improvements in you day-do-day life.
